So moving on to the next video this week. It is about how companies market to genders. How women and men could be buying the same product for different prices and never even know it. It all makes a really good point and the two girls in the video are hilarious too. Shape, texture, logo, packaging, verbiage, graphics, and sounds are all altered when you are preparing a product to be targeted to a certain type of audience. Advertisers believe that breaking people up into categories that are smaller and smaller can help sell products. Logo made a huge move with girls and improved its sales by 25% after creating a girls barbie-like leggo toy and making a commercial. The comparisons between mens and womens items like the diapers were funny but the comparisons like the dove soap actually made a lot of sense. Men are hard to target if the logo resembles women like things so that is the lesson I learned, yet I also enjoyed the videos this week.
